Operating a car while under the influence is a very serious charge and when someone is staring police in the face, realizing what they've done and the repercussions that are likely to follow, it can make people do awfully bizarre things. Hence, this story.

According to WGME, an OUI stop over the weekend in Belfast led to a man repeatedly punching himself in the face until he bled, so that he didn't have to take a breathalyzer test. Police chose to tend to his self-inflicted injuries rather than push forth with the breathalyzer.

Police initially found the 27-year-old man, and his car, in a ditch in Belfast in the early morning hours of Saturday. Police ended up charging the 27-year-old man with multiple crimes, including OUI, criminal mischief and falsifying physical evidence. That last charge likely stems from the man repeatedly punching himself in the face until he bled, negating the breathalyzer test.

Just when you think you've seen everything.
