Amazon Eyes A Third Location in Maine For Another Warehouse
As it pertains to Amazon and its deliveries in Maine, things could be looking significantly different in the next couple of years.
For the last two decades since Amazon Prime delivery was rolled out, Maine has mostly been an afterthought.
If you lived in a rural or remote area, you just expected that your package delivery from Amazon would take some time to get there.
Now, Amazon has clearly put a focus on speeding things up in Vacationland. The company has already opened one warehouse in Caribou, has another proposed for Gorham and now wants to build a third.
Amazon Looking to Build A Third Warehouse in Hermon, Maine
According to WABI, Amazon is proposing building a warehouse at the former site of the Bangor Drive-in in Hermon, Maine.
If the plan is approved, the Hermon warehouse would be about 60,000 square feet and serve as another distribution center for central Maine.
The proposed Hermon warehouse would be much larger than their current Caribou one, which is only 13,000 square feet.
There are still some hurdles to be cleared for the Amazon warehouse in Hermon is fully approve but it appears to be on track.
Amazon is Looking to Finalize Their Massive Warehouse in Gorham, Maine
According to the Portland Press Herald, Amazon has officially filed their proposal for a sprawling 146,000 square foot warehouse distribution center in Gorham, Maine.
For comparison, the Costco retail warehouse in Scarborough, Maine, is listed at 161,000 square feet.
Much of the ire from Gorham residents as well as surrounding towns stems from the amount of potential increased traffic the facility will bring.
If approved, the Amazon warehouse in Gorham would be a 24/7 facility and would drastically speed up delivery items on many items across the state.
