Its Winter in Maine..Think With Your Feet!

Sometimes people just don't remember where we live or what time of the year it is. I have a tip that might help out at least in one area.

I was in line in a store at a checkout recently. It was just after a major storm. We had crazy amounts of snow on the ground and it was an arctic assault outside. A total polar mess. Anyways, bundled up in line waiting to purchase a whiteout strip and a poster frame, I looked down at the person in front of me. I couldn't believe what she had on her feet ...

You've got to be kiding me right? I look up at her with a, "are you out of your mind" look on my face. She seemed super nice and such a happy camper I couldn't even joke with her, but damn! What was going on in the noggin to allow for such a poor footware decision. How do you walk around in tons of Maine snow and slush and expect to maintain any traction in those klunkers? If you're at home reading the Hunger Games for the 3rd time with a cup of hot chocolate staying away from the winter reality; SURE! Rock those cute little kicks. Those are fine to wear if you're shuffling around the loft. Going outside though? Sweetie... thats how we get sick! Thats how you slip and bust your ass!

Might I suggest some other options?

These above, these are your standard Maine, Bean-ish "lets take on anything" boot. These will give you comfort AND the added bonus of safety you deserve! 

These... are ... acceptable... sure. You might have to fight Cher to get them, but they'll most definitely provide warmth and more footing that those slippers you were rocking!

Ok, these are cute. Listen though, I know you love Arcade Fire and Taylor Swift, but those are show shoes. Those are all, "look at me, I live in Portland Maine one of the most hipster/buzz places in America"! Those are "come look at my boots and lets get a Mocha-Frappa-Latte-Chino thing at one of the 14 coffee shops on my block". Those are just no good on the ice kiddo. You expect to grab ground in these? No, so lets let the Nickelodeon teensters have at em and cut out some of the summer fashion sense in the cold months.

Now THOSE, those work. They cover all the bases. THOSE ARE GOOD. That girl is gonna be warm and safe and completely good for the winter. Seriously, she'll be just fine. Bathing suit? Nah, don't worry about none of that. She looks like she'll be just fine! Her feet are safe and warm and that equals good things for everyone really!
