One of the nice things about living in Maine is that much of our state has remained largely unchanged for hundreds of years. There are places in Maine where buildings have remained untouched, many of them become pieces of history and many being added to the National Register of Historic Places. One of those buildings is still standing in Kittery Point Maine and looks nearly like it did almost 300 years ago.

The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point was built in 1730, before the United States of America was even formed.

There have been a few minor changes and upgrades since the 18th century, including electricity, heat, and other modern conveniences we take for granted today. Recently a ramp was built at the entrance to the church to help people who have mobility issues, making it much easier for them to go to church services.

Every Christmas season the church is decorated inside to celebrate the holiday.A lot

I may not be a religious man, but Maine does have some beautiful churches and they are great subjects for photographs.

A lot of care has been put into The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point to keep it looking as it did all those years ago.

If you'd like to visit the church for service, all are welcome on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. or 10 a.m. The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point is located at 23 Pepperrell Rd., Kittery Point, Maine. You can also just take a drive to get a look at Maine's oldest church in person.
