Soup Season

Everyone has different "calendars" of when soup season actually is. For some, it's as soon as you have to start layering up outside and can see your breath in the cold, crisp air.

For others, it's as soon as fall hits and the leaves start to change. And for a few, it's as soon as the first snow falls from the sky.

Regardless of when soup season hits for you, there's one thing that can't be argued -- for about 99.9% of New Englanders, soup (and soup season in general) during the colder months is life.

Like children (and, let's be real, a lot of adults, too) love to warm up with a giant mug of hot chocolate and marshmallows after playing outside in the cold and snow with their friends (add the Bailey's, adults!) - for adults, it's soup.

Soup Definition

Like some people tend to debate random things, like whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich, some people like to debate exactly whether or not some foods are soups, which will have a bit of an impact on one section of this list.

According to Merriam-Webster, soup is defined as:

A liquid food especially with a meat, fish, or vegetable stock as a base and often containing pieces of solid food.
