You gotta love Stephen King. The writer born in Portland, Maine who went on to write some of the most successful horror novels of all time still comes back to Maine regularly to do things that Mainers do and he isn't afraid to be seen in public like some Maine celebrities. I won't name names, but you might be able to figure it out.

Earlier this fall, King visited the Freybrug Fair and grabbed himself what appears to be a sausage and peppers sandwich, much to the surprise of the crowds that saw him and the woman behind him in this photo with her camera pointed right at him, hoping he turns around.

This week, Stephen King made another visit in public to Smitty's Cinema in Windham. We're not sure what movie he went to see, but if I were to guess, I would say it was Lost on a Mountain in Maine, the story of a 12-year-old Donn Fendle who got separated from his family during a storm while on a hike up Mount Katahdin in 1939. This movie seems right up his alley.

You can see the photo with Stephen King on Smitty's Cinema Windham's Facebook page, posing next to the poster for the upcoming film The Monkey at the Windham Mall.

The Monkey is based on a short story written by King and adapted into a movie.

Yeah, I'm gonna pass on this one. I knew someone who had one of these monkeys when I was a kid and it scared the you-know-what out of me. You thrill seekers enjoy.
