I guess it's safe to say that Maine is ready for professional soccer.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Portland Hearts of Pine, the brand-new professional soccer team, has already sold or reserved 90% of the tickets available for 2025. I guess you could say there’s definitely demand for a pro team in Maine. Talk about an astonishing stat!

Maine is Ready for Portland Hearts of Pine to Kick off

The team is rapidly getting closer to kicking off its inaugural season, and Mainers are ready. And they should be, considering the Hearts of Pine have been in steady development since 2019. To say the community has been eagerly waiting is an understatement, and ticket and merchandise sales clearly prove that.

Hearts of Pine will have 15 regular-season home games at Portland's Fitzpatrick Stadium (not including cup games and friendlies). According to the Press Herald, the capacity will be set at around 5,500. This means that over 79,000 tickets for the season are already accounted for.

Maine Has Become Soccer Crazy

This is simply incredible. As a fan of the beautiful game and a Hearts season-ticket holder, I must say I'm incredibly stoked to hear this. Soccer continues to have a meteoric rise in America, and seeing such excitement about our brand-new local pro team is wonderful.

If you had told me 20 years ago that we would eventually have a sold-out Fitzy to watch our very own pro team, I probably would have asked you how drunk you were. Boy, how times have changed.

No longer do we soccer fanatics have to watch games on obscure television networks or illegal streams. The game has completely taken over, especially with the younger generations who have grown up in a much more soccer-friendly America.

And these ticket sales are clear proof that we Mainers are ready to get behind our own team and show the rest of America just how soccer-crazy we are.

It can't come soon enough.
