It's no secret that we have a loud and proud foodie population here in New England, and with good reason. Our restaurant industry is killing it right now, and there's never a shortage of new establishments opening their doors to the public. You can never run out of places to visit for your next dining experience, especially in New Hampshire.

When it comes to highlighting the best establishments around, no one does a better job than LoveFood. From discussing the nation's top restaurants to sharing recipes, news, and commentaries, LoveFood is a foodie's digital paradise.

A while back, the site published a list of the most adorable small-town restaurants in each state. The findings were conducted based on user reviews, accolades, awards, and the firsthand experience of the LoveFood staff.

So what New Hampshire restaurant was featured? That lucky establishment is Lou's Restaurant & Bakery in Hanover, located steps away from Dartmouth College.

Lou's first opened its doors in 1947, just two years after World War II ended. The restaurant has been passed down to different owners through the years, but one thing has remained consistent: the scrumptiousness of their pastries and "from-scratch, locally sourced modern diner cuisine." LoveFood specifically mentions Lou's "golden French toast, fluffy pancakes with local maple syrup, glazed-cider doughnuts, and poached egg breakfasts." Doesn't that sound heavenly?

Take a glance at Lou's Facebook page, and you'll see that the staff clearly know what they're doing when it comes to food. Just look at this avocado toast. It's the fanciest avocado toast we ever did see, and we're absolutely obsessed.

This writer's never been to Lou's, but is feeling hungry already. Sharing a similar sentiment? You can learn more about the restaurant and bakery here. And while we're at it, let's look at some of the many beloved bakeries that call New Hampshire home.
