Magical Maine Candy Store Filled With Bright Color, Sweet Treats Moving to a New Space
All good things end up changing in one way or another right?
However, change isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact for this cute little candy store, I think the change they've got coming up is looking like the best thing that can happen to them.
Have you ever heard of the colorful candy store called Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe in Hallowell, Maine?
They've got some good news and some sad news.
The Sad News (always start with the bad news):
Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe is officially closing its doors at its Hallowell, Maine location.
Really in the last few years, I think we all know, has been an absolute shhhh show. I think it's safe to say none of us have ever seen so much turnover for storefronts, restaurants, and small businesses.
Scrummy was no exception because after a good wholesome run since 2012 when they first opened their magical doors in Hallowell, keeping a permanent home there had just become too difficult and they had to close during the pandemic in 2020.
Thankfully, they were able to adapt and reopen with a candy trailer in 2021, according to WABI, and that's been it's home, still in Hallowell, up until now.
The candy store announced in a Facebook post the departure from their longtime home.
The Good News:
Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe is relocating to Gardiner, Maine.
That same Facebook post also revealed that the candy store is finding a new permanent storefront.
Owners of the Ampersand Academy of Dance & Performing Arts, have opened their arms to share their space at 293 Water Street with the cute candy shop. Sounds like a win-win for everybody; grab some candy and go watch some performing arts!
Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe even creates professional cakes, look at this thing:
It will obviously be a loss for Hallowell, as it seems like they've created a great environment based on their customers, but it will be exciting to re-create that in Gardiner in their new home.
Scrummy stated in the post, "After many months and outreach we have been unable to find a permanent home for Scrummys in Hallowell, Maine. We truly tried and are sad to leave what has been Scrummys home since 2012! The “good “ news is that we will be just around the corner in Gardiner! With welcoming arms, Rachel and Dan of Ampersand Academy of Dance & Performing Arts, have welcomed us to share space at 293 Water Street! The space is absolutely charming, full of light and life and energy!"
The candy shop indicated they are hoping for a November 1 opening and will keep people updated through the process.
Time to go check out a new candy place, am I right?
