The overriding story of the Portland, Maine, culinary scene over the last several months has been closures. There has been a trimming of offerings in a short amount of time, from high-end restaurants to smaller dives and everything in between.

That list of closures is about to get a little bigger. As one well-known named in the craft cocktail scene has announced plans to shut down their public house and tasting room permanently.

Maine Craft Distilling Closing Their Washington Avenue Location in Portland, Maine

According to Portland Food Map, Maine Craft Distilling initially put a pause on their public house and tasting room operations in January. That 'winter break' was only expected to last a short time before the the business would reopen for the spring influx of tourism.

Instead, Maine Craft Distilling has made the decision to permanently close their public house and tasting room at 123 Washington Ave in Portland. They've been operating at that location for nearly a decade, opening there in 2017.

Maine Craft Distilling Will Continue Their Canned Cocktail Operation

Fear not lovers of Maine Craft Distilling's canned cocktails. While the public house and tasting room are closing permanently, Maine Craft Distilling plans to focus their entire attention on their canned cocktail sector, which includes offerings like their popular Blueshine Lemonade and Maine Mule.

The massive 10,000 plus square foot space that Maine Craft Distilling operated in is set to go up for lease shortly. Their canned cocktails will remain for sale at stores across the state of Maine.
