The Most Disgusting Candy on Earth Is Apparently Maine’s Favorite
There's a lot of wonderful things about Maine and the great folks who live here...and then there's this.
According to Instacart, the online grocery shopping delivery service, Maine's favorite candy is...wait for it...candy corn. This. Is. Disturbing.
The folks over at The Pioneer Women recently published the latest Instacart trends, and of course, it was all about candy. I mean, this makes sense considering we are in the month of the lamest most fun holiday there is, Halloween. While many states had great candy favorites, like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, M & M's, Hershey's Bars, and Nerds, Maine was in a group of misfits with no taste. A group that thinks wax is edible, because that's what candy corn tastes like, freaking wax.
Honestly, who under the age of 125 actually enjoys candy corn?
It's probably the worst candy ever manufactured. I would take those Necco wafer things that have the consistency of chalk over candy corn. I bet you would, too. In fact, my purpose in life is to never be friends with anyone who likes candy corn.
I think one of the major reasons why I detest Halloween is due to receiving so much candy corn while trick-or-treating back in the late '80s and early '90s. I would have assumed with time that candy corn would have become extinct, but here we are, still discussing how its popular many decades later. It's literally the candy version of a cockroach.
Maine is not alone in its lack of taste for candy. New Hampshire, Nebraska, and South Carolina also have candy corn as the top choice. And now I know what states to avoid in October...well other than the New Hampshire. I mean, those liquor stores and their lack of sales tax!
You can see the entire popular candy map here.
Happy Halloween...if that's your thing.
