Resurgam Music Festival

This past weekend, Mainers reveled in the sweet sound of local bands at Thompson’s Point with a free music festival all day on Sunday.

A parade kicked the day off by showcasing young performers, acts on stilts, Maine dance teams, and lively music to get everyone ready for an energetic day ahead. Maine Academy of Modern Music along with various local businesses and partners hosted the arts and music festival, a brand new event in Maine that may very well become an annual shindig.

The day was filled with food trucks showing off our local cuisine, craft beer, refreshing mojitos, and talented musicians spread across varying genres, ages, and vibes. I personally hit up The Highroller Lobster Co. truck and scored a red snappah I had been craving all day. They take it to a whole other level with flavored mayos though, my God.

Anyway, I definitely should have worn more solid shoes and not my slip-off sandals because the high energy from the local talent and buzz from the crowd had me itching to groove all day. The festival had different stages spread across Thompson’s Point so you could genre-jump and check out different artists all at once. They had a stage for MAMM bands, rock, international, acoustic, and more.

And, as you can see, it was the perfect place for all ages.

I spent a large chunk of my day posted up at the rock stage that was off to the side near the maker’s market, a large brick warehouse filled with food, local artisans, crafts, and shelter from the sun. The rock stage was energetic, colorful, exciting, and rocked my sandals right off.

The event was well done, set up nicely, and planned smartly, and it seemed like everyone genuinely enjoyed themselves. But how could they not? It’s a day in the sun by the water filled with local food and beer, phenomenal local musicians, entertainment, art, and good people.

To me, that’s exactly how a Sunday in Maine should be spent in the summer.
