Many of them have revolved around the state's tourism industry, it's slower pace of life and natural beauty that remains intact.

But a new national report claims that there are some serious problems in Maine that are going to need attention very quickly. Problems that are already affecting everyday people in Maine with the likelihood of getting worse.

The most pressing issue for Maine is the power grid within the state. The aging infrastructure had caused Maine to consistently being among the leaders in the nation in power outages. By comparison, Maine residents go without electricity due to outages for triple the amount of time as our neighbors from New Hampshire.

Governor Janet Mills recently created a Department of Energy Resources in hopes of tackling some of the major power grid infrastructure problems the state faces now and into the future.

Nearly 10% of all roads in Maine are deemed in 'unacceptable' condition. That label is given to roads with potholes, severe cracks, uneven pavement and other hazards that can pose risks for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Perhaps even worse, more than 15% of all bridges in Maine are deemed to be in 'poor' condition. That generally means that at least one component of a bridge suffers from significant damage or deterioration.
