For many, many years now, one of the most visible commercial vacancies in Portland, Maine, sat at the corner of Congress and High Streets. In fact, the entire intersection was reimagined in a multi-year project while 600 Congress Street sat dormant.

But there's about to be some life breathed back into the space as a brand new coffee shop and cafe is taking over the space.

Y%F Coffee Plans to Open at 600 Congress Street in Portland, Maine

A small stretch of Portland is about to become the coffee capital of the city. According to Portland Food Map, Y%F Cafe has leased the long vacant spot at 600 Congress Street with plans to open an 80 seat cafe.

Y%F Cafe will operate an in-house roasting operation. There will be a wide selection of beverage offerings including Turkish coffee and Spanish lattes.

Bakery offerings will be plentiful as well. Y%F plans to have a menu of classic and unique baked goods as well as breakfast sandwiches for people on the go in the morning.

Y%F Cafe hopes to have their grand opening by the end of November.

Flatiron Coffee Shop Just Opened Across the Street in Portland, Maine

Recently just opening at 594 Congress Street was another coffee destination. That would be Flatiron Coffee Bar, which bills itself as a European-style coffee spot that was once home to a Starbucks location.

Flatiron operates a small but mighty menu that includes standard drip coffee, cold brews, brewed tea as well as several different espresso drinks.
