So many restaurants have closed in Portland, Maine, over the last several months that it's hard for people to keep track. From upscale restaurants to cozy dives to iconic mom and pop shops, things feel very uneasy for the food service industry in Portland right now.

Smaller restaurants typically survive these types of tumultuous times thanks to less rent, less food costs and less labor costs as well. Then again, the bigger the company, the smaller the margins and one very notable pizza chain in Maine appears to be slimming down their footprint by one.

Otto Will Close Their East End Location in Portland

Shared on Reddit, the Otto location in the East End of Portland at 225 Congress Street is calling it quits. The original Otto location that started the franchise at 576 Congress Street will remain open. There's also another Portland location on Read Street that will continue operations as well.

Otto is Still Opening New Locations Across New England

The company as a whole continues to look strong. While the 225 Congress Street location didn't seem to work any longer, Otto has continued a massive expansion into both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. There are more Otto locations outside of Maine than in the state currently.

Not only that, Otto continues to receive accolades. Otto was recently named as the best slice of pizza you can find anywhere in Maine by Food Network.
