Did You Know There’s A “Hidden” Popeyes Chicken In Central Maine?
If you are a connoisseur of fast food, there is a good chance that you have a "wish list" of restaurants you would love to see open in Central Maine. Chick-fil-A, Sonic, Wahlburger, and (for our friends from the West Coast) Whataburger all seem to be really popular.
For those who like fried chicken, an obvious choice would be Popeyes Chicken.
According to Wikipedia, the restaurant was founded in Louisiana in 1972 by a man named Al Copeland. The company is known for their fried chicken and spicy sides like red beans & rice, cajun fries, mashed potato with cajun-style gravy, and mac & cheese. Recently, the added a fish sandwich to their menu.
The company, which is now based in Miami, currently has about 3,100 locations. And, even though most of those locations are outside Northern New England, there are a handful of Popeyes restaurants in Maine.
According to the Popeyes Chicken website, there are three locations in Maine. One is in South Portland, one is in Kennebunkport, and one is in Central Maine!
So, where is this Central Maine location?
It is kind of hidden. In fact, if you are a local, there is probably no reason for you to ever lay eyes on it.
This hidden Popeyes Chicken location is inside the West Gardiner service plaza!
To get there, just get off I-95 Exit 102. Or, take the scenic route down Route 126.
