Snow Totals: Some Parts of Maine, NH Saw Over a Foot After Weekend Storm
Forget the adage "Winter is coming." Yup, winter is here.
Over the weekend a nor'easter struck Maine and New Hampshire bringing with it snow, sleet, rain and wind. Thousands of people lost power, and crews are still working to get it back on for many.
Parts of Maine and New Hampshire saw snow totals exceed a foot while other areas, more along the cost, kept things moderate with a couple inches.
The highest recorded number for the weekend storm, per the National Weather Service in Gray, was Carrabassett Valley in Franklin County at 18 inches.
But there were some other locations that weren't too far behind.
Mount Washington reported 17.9 inches (but it is Mount Washington, after all), and places like Casco, Rangeley, Newry, Caribou and Monson in Maine had over 11 inches, based on reports from the National Weather Service in Gray and the National Weather Service in Caribou. New Hampshire also boasted some big numbers over 11 inches in places like Gorham, Strafford, and Sharon, according to the NWS.
