Maine Restaurant Offers ‘No Questions Asked’ Food Cabinet For Hungry
It's not lost on most people in Maine that some friends, neighbors as well as complete strangers are struggling right now.
That struggle can come in many different forms, from financial to mental.
Some of those struggles have left friends, neighbors and strangers needing help. Some are willing to ask while others remain too proud to say a word.
There's been a restaurant in South Portland, Maine, fully aware of the struggle for years. They've been offering meals to those in desperate need under the radar.
That restaurant is Taj Indian Cuisine. And now, they've decided to take their generosity one step further.

In November of 2025, Taj announced a similar concept to their food cabinet. A refrigerator was set up in the entry way of the restaurant with meals that could be taken by those that needed them.
Initially, it was thought to just be a giving for the holidays thing. Now, Taj has decided to make it permanent with easier access and less potential judgment.
The hope remains the same, however. That a hot meal will make those who need it feel a piece of humanity again.
