‘The Simpsons’ Does ‘Making a Murderer’ With Itchy and Scratchy
Now that The Simpsons firmly has 600 episodes under its belt, here’s to another 300 hours of pop-culture parody. To start, Itchy & Scratchy get a Making a Murderer makeover, as The Simpsons takes aim at Netflix’s breakout documentary series.
FOX released a quick clip from this coming Sunday’s fifth Season 28 episode, “Trust but Clarify,” as Bart and Lisa watch Krusty the Clown’s resident cartoon filler adapted to “Mousetrapping a Murderer.” For the most part, the bit quickly does away with any real Making a Murderer parody beyond the title sequence, but still makes for a solid visual reference.
As UPROXX points out, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen The Simpsons crossed with Netflix’s Making a Murderer, as a prior mashup saw Homer standing in for the twice-incarcerated Steven Avery.
Making a Murderer hasn’t made many headlines after Wisconsin appealed Brendan Dassey’s overturned conviction (or Avery’s brief engagement), but surely Season 2 will take note of the series’ own reflection in pop culture.
In the meantime, watch the Simpsons bit above, and check out the full episode this Sunday.
