Popular Westbrook, Maine, Brunch Spot is Excitingly Back Open
One of Westbrook's most popular dining spots is finally back open, and the community couldn't be happier.
Following a location change, months of construction, a fire, and even more construction, Brea Lu has finally opened its doors.
The new location can be found at 511 Main Street, after a lengthy and successful tenure on Cumberland Street, also in Westbrook. The new space is much larger, allowing for more seating, a longer bar, and a bigger kitchen area.
This is great news for Brea Lu fans, who have been waiting patiently for the new and improved space. While the old spot was fine, it certainly didn't have a large capacity. This made for quite the queue times for tables, especially on the weekends. The new location should certainly help with that, though I would argue a meal at Brea Lu is worth any wait.
Brea Lu has quite a history. Originally located on Forest Ave in Portland, the brunch spot quickly became a fixture and was a hot spot throughout the '90s and beyond. However, after a fire in 2016, the joint ended up moving to its Cumberland St Westbrook location. It was an immediate hit and continued to grow even through the pandemic.
Now at its new location, Brea Lu has an opportunity to keep growing its legacy of a delicious, unpretentious brunch joint where all feel welcome. And this is certainly made possible by owner Christian and his great staff. The service is wonderful.
Congrats to Brea Lu for its grand reopening. It's wonderful to have it back open in Westbrook. I look forward to getting back in there for some great food, coffee, and conversation.
