Xander’s 5 Must-Have Music Apps for Mainers

Technology has become more and more prevalent in how we consume our music, and we at WCYY have officially joined the party! In celebration of the launch of our new WCYY App, here's a list of some of my favorite apps for anyone who can't turn their tunes down!

1) Shazam

We've all had that moment when we're listening to the radio, and a new song comes on that we haven't heard before. Rather than having to ask your friends if they know it, and embarrass yourself trying to sing it to them, just use this handy little app! It listens to the music you have on, and pulls up the info for you.

2) SoundCloud

You may be familiar with SoundCloud, but if you haven't dug around for new music on it, you're missing out. It's a haven for cool and creative music you wouldn't find in a record store - from 80's throwback rock to music made entirely out of OSX sound samples, you'll be hard pressed not to find something you'll like.

3) BandsInTown

Have you ever missed your favorite band coming through Portland, because you live outside the city and missed the flyers outside the venue? Sign up with BandsInTown and follow your favorite bands for updates on tours, and alerts when they're playing nearby.

4) Yousician

Haven't we all wanted to be rockstars at some point? Well this is your first step! Yousician is an app that helps you develop Piano, Guitar, Bass and Ukulele skills right on your phone, at any difficulty level. Future superstars, take note!
