For a lot of people, their morning routine includes a nice bowl of cereal and a piece of toast. There's just something warm and comforting about a warm piece of toast smeared with butter. Unless of course that butter features 'elevated' levels of fecal matter.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what has likely happened to people who recently purchased a specific butter brand from Cabot Creamery.

The USDA Issues Recall on Cabot Creamery Butter Brand in 7 States, Including Maine

According to USA Today, the United States Food and Drug Administration has officially issued a recall on a specific Cabot Creamery butter brand. The USDA says that Cabot Creamery's 8oz extra creamy premium butter, sea salted variety, has shown 'elevated' levels of fecal contamination. The brand is typically sold in with two 4oz sticks.

There is believed to be more than 1,700 pounds of the potentially contaminated butter that was distributed through 7 states, including Maine and New Hampshire. The recall also includes New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Arkansas.

What to Do With the Contaminated Butter and Potential Health Issues

In its recall notice, the USDA suggests that anyone who has purchased the specific Cabot Creamery butter brand simply toss it away in the garbage.

The good news for those that may have already ingested the contaminated Cabot Creamery butter is that the recall falls under a lower class health warning, class III. What that means is even if it has been consumed, it's unlikely to cause severe health issues.
