Are you living in a county where there's an epidemic of obesity? A large percentage of smokers? A large amount of excessive drinking? The informational website County Health Rankings and Roadmaps unveiled their rankings of Maine's healthiest county to Maine's least healthiest.

County Health Rankings spent significant time crunching the numbers on a number of different factors before arriving at their conclusions. Some of those factors include:

  • Health Behaviors (smoking, drinking, risky sexual behavior, over eating)
  • Clinical (uninsured residents, access to dentists, preventable hospital stays)
  • Social and Economic Factors (graduation rates, unemployment, violent crime rate, children living in poverty)
  • Physical Environment (air pollution, long commutes to work, severe housing issues, drinking water problems)

From those factors (and a few others) County Health Rankings were able to arrive at this list:
