
Farmer’s Almanac Predicts Winter Won’t Let Go of Maine in April
There's an old saying that has been used for generations. It goes "April showers bring May flowers". For a long time throughout New England, that has been true. Historically, April really isn't all that different from most other months when it comes to precipitation throughout New England, it just feels like that way.
After what felt like a long, dark winter, people in Maine and New Hampshire are stirring. They're ready for warmer days and activities that won't require lots of layers of clothes. But according to the Farmer's Almanac, those layers of clothes might still be required for much of April.

Statistically speaking, March is Maine was a little colder than it should have been with the average temperature 2 degrees below normal. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting that the chill is going to linger longer.
The Farmer's Almanac predicts that most of April will be under cloud cover, with below average temperatures for the first half of the month. Maine and New Hampshire are likely to see plenty of precipitation that includes a chance at an April snowstorm.
The End of April Into May Holds Promise For Weather in Maine
If you're looking for a silver lining, it's likely to come at the end of the month. The Farmer's Almanac predicts that warmer. drier air will migrate into Maine and New England to bring far more pleasant days.
That prediction is backed up by the NOAA. that also says the end of April is likely going to average around 60 degrees for Maine. It can't come soon enough.
