Is AccuWeather’s Prediction for New England’s Winter REALLY True?
Dust off that old snow blower, because we might be in for a snowy winter in New England this year.
Remember last winter? It was a breeze. Boston saw just 12.4 inches of snow. That is NOTHING for New England winters.
Now, if you are a skier or snowboarder, you are probably hoping for some more powder than last year. Well, ask and you shall receive.
According to a Boston.com article, AccuWeather is predicting that Boston could see between 38 and 44 inches of snowfall during the 2023-2024 season. That is nearly four times what the city saw last year. And you know that is going to translate into a WHOLE LOT MORE up north for New Hampshire and Maine.
So when exactly is this snowy season going to hit us? Because here in New England, you can get a Halloween Nor'easter or an April Fools snowstorm. We have seen it all.
The heaviest of the winter season is "going to come later in the year this year," according to Accuweather and Boston.com. "AccuWeather forecasters are predicting that the window for nor’easters will stretch from late January through February for the region. The season is predicted to have a stormy end, prolonging ski season across the Appalachians."
So, good news for skiers and riders out there. Spring skiing is likely looking good this year.
And just like ALL weather predictions, it may not be spot on, or the only prediction...
The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting blizzard conditions in northern New England as early as December 2023. So you may not have to wait until January to get those skis sharpened and waxed.
