I'll never get to live in a house like this.

I'm not complaining about where I live. I have a house that plenty big, maybe too big, for just me and my wife and our dog. Decent plot of land, and plenty of room to spread out inside. In fact, as much as I like my neighbors, I can barely see them through the trees. Especially in summer. It's my little oasis.

But if money were no object, I'd certainly consider a huge house next to the ocean. Why not? If I could own a spot that I could spread way out in, as well as entertain tons of people, I'd be all over it. And that's what you get from this amazing home on Hamilton's Way in Bar Harbor.

Normally, you see all kind of eccentric things in the homes of wealthy people. But then you see ones where someone got super creative. And this spot at 76 Hamilton's Way in Bar Harbor goes even beyond that. Yes, it has all sorts of ocean views, and dramatic grounds to dwell upon, but this place has things you don't always see. It's listed by Erica Brooks of Swan Agency Real Estate.

There seems like there's almost a chess theme to the house. From the fact that there's an outdoor, life-size chess area, to one of the main living areas featuring a painted floor that resembles a chess board. And that room is big enough, that you could probably appoint it properly, and still have room to move the game indoors if you had to.

What are the details?

The house sits on a 6.25 acre lot almost right in the middle of all the action, overlooking downtown. Plus, of course the near-panoramic ocean views. It has 5 huge bedrooms and a half dozen bathrooms. And most of us could probably fit 5 of our normal houses into the 7,682 square feet this place has.
