Look, I love Maine. I love Portland, and I love living in Portland. However, I refuse to let remote.com list Portland, Maine, as the number one destination for remote work without challenging that just a little bit.

I say this all the time, and I'll say it again. Portland, Maine, has been put on the map so much recently for our food, drinks, and entertainment, and I agree with that. However, you're going to tell me somewhere tropical isn't going to win over Portland, a city that is so cold in the winter that we have to battle the mental demons in our head until summertime when we can remind ourselves why it's such a beautiful state? I'm sorry, but I'm picking the Maldives, Key West, or even Texas before I'm picking Portland, Maine, to work from home every day from.

Don't take this the wrong way, Mainers. I love it here, and I love how beautiful our state is, otherwise I wouldn't live here. I'm just saying that if I had a choice to work from anywhere in the world, it's going to be a beach that stays 80 degrees year-round. Though I will say, more often than not, I tend to bring my laptop and work from cozy shops around the city. Some of my favorite places are right in Portland, like Uncharted Boba Cafe on Congress Street, or setting up a blanket on the Eastern Prom and letting the ocean be my background noise.
