You may feel like you've read this story before, an idea to make tobacco products unavailable for purchase by anyone under the age of 21. In one way, you're right, Last year, Portland became the first Maine city to enact such a law. But according to WGME, now the entire rest of the state of Maine may be coming on board.

Currently, there are only two states across the country where you cannot purchase tobacco products under the age of 21. California and Hawaii enacted those laws and haven't looked back, but will Maine become the first east coast to do it?

A state Senate vote will take place next week to determine whether the law will go into effect across all of Maine's 231 cities, towns and municipalities. If the bill is passed, then a timetable will be set for how quickly the law will go into effect.
