As with many shopping centers across the country, it's been a tough start to 2026 for the Maine Mall in South Portland.

Several major retailers including Eddie Bauer and Francesca's permanently closed their Maine Mall locations as they moved into bankruptcy.

But in the retail industry, when somebody's doors close, it leaves an opening. And the Maine Mall appears poised to welcome a pair of new businesses into the fold.

Exotic Snack Guys Set to Open New Location at The Maine Mall in South Portland

Operating in malls across about half of the United States, a new chain is headed for the Maine Mall.

It's called Exotic Snack Guys, a spot that offers visitors a chance to devour some of the strangest and unique chips, drinks, candy and more from around the globe.

Exotic Snack Guys specializes in stocking some hard to find items. Like unique flavors of well-known brands like Monster, Dr. Pepper, Cheetos, Lay's and more.

One of their most popular items is a 'mystery box', which is a curated box filled with international favorites you really won't find anywhere else.

It is unknown as of this writing where amongst the vacant spaces Exotic Snack Guys will be opening.

NEStalgia Gaming Listed As 'Now Open' at The Maine Mall in South Portland

If you've visited the Maine Mall recently, it's possible you've walked by a pop-up in the atrium by Best Buy.

That pop-up is NEStagia Gaming, a shop specializing in nostalgic video games, collectibles and sports/Pokemon cards. The shop features a variety of classic Nintendo games for various consoles as well as many unique collectibles including Funkos.

It's possible that NEStagia Gaming remains a pop-up that shows up sporadically at the Maine Mall. It's also possible it could become a permanent fixture at the mall in one of the various vacant spaces currently available.
