Maine Likely to Feel Spring-Like Temperatures Next Week
It's reached the point of a long winter in Maine where many people have had enough.
January was exceptionally cold for Maine this year, ranking as one of the most frigid months in recent years.
To this point, February has been a different story. There have been some extremely cold nights but nothing record breaking.
At least not yet.
But a major warming trend is headed the way of the northeast and it may bring some record-breaking warmth with it.
Maine and New England Will See Major Warming Shift Next Week
Over this weekend, several parts of the country have a chance to set temperature records thanks a major shift with warm air winning out over arctic air.
According to Weather Underground, states like Minnesota, North and South Dakota and more could all see decades-old records fall this weekend where temperatures are likely to creep into the 60's.
Some towns and cities in Texas could see temperatures up to 90 degrees.
Maine and New England won't see that level of warm up but it will be substantial. Maine is likely to see daytime highs 10-15 degrees higher than average for mid-February.
Central and Southern Maine Likely to Feel The Biggest Warm Up
If the forecast models hold, say goodbye to much of the snowpack through central and southern Maine.
The warm up should arrive Tuesday of next week and could last through Friday. Highs should sit in the upper 40's to low 50's with lows struggling to get down to freezing.
That could lead to an early melt and a sneak preview of spring for those that have grown weary of winter.
