Is New Hampshire Really One of the Least Friendliest States in the US?
How did this little corner of the country just rank as one of the most unfriendly states in the country? Somehow Newsweek just dropped a map using data from the World Population Review, showing where you can find the warmest welcomes and most hospitable communities and New Hampshire does not rank impressively.
Being originally from New Hampshire, it surprises me to see that it was ranked #6 least friendliest state in the US. If you’ve ever wandered into a diner and found yourself in a conversation with a local about everything from the weather to the best hiking spots, you know what I’m talking about. New Hampshirites (if that’s even a thing) have always been known for their genuine friendliness. Whether you're asking for directions or just making small talk, most people there are always ready for a conversation or to help.
Then there's the classic small-town vibe. Imagine you're cruising down some winding backroad, possibly lost, and you spot a local. Chances are, they’ll not only help you find your way but also share a bit of local history or recommend a nearby hidden gem restaurant.
To all of those points, I’m calling BS on this data – but that’s just me. Obviously every state has their cranky and rude residents but next time you’re out and about in New Hampshire, see if you notice the friendly faces and warm greetings, they’re kind of hard to miss.
Where can you find the friendliest residents in the US? Well, according to Newsweek, the top 5 are Minnesota, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, and Wyoming.
The top 5 rudest states? They claim those belong to New York, Arkansas, Delaware, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
