Not One, But Two New Beck Albums Next Year

Bek David Campbell aka known as Beck Hansen but best known as Beck has two releases lined up to drop in 2014. He recently signed to Capitol records and will release his first new album since 2008's Modern Guilt in a couple months. Ok, so that's not completely accurate. He released "Song Reader" this month in 2012 in the form of....CD? Digitally? 8-track? Nope....sheet music. Yup, you want to hear the album? Play it yourself....only Beck.

The first of the two new albums will be called "Morning Phase" in February. Yeah, that's a Beck album title if I've ever heard one. This one will be in the vein of his 2002 album "Sea Change." So more of a mellower, melancholy sound. Later on in 2014, he will release more a typical alternative sounding Beck record.

Maybe you were one of the lucky ones in the crowd at The State Theatre for his show in August which was one hell of a show. He stopped by Portland during what was mostly an acoustic tour. He basically opened up for himself by playing a 45 minute acoustic set. He took a twenty minute break and came back fully plugged in with a set filled with hits, freestyles and even covering Michael Jackson's Billy Jean complete with some pretty smooth moonwalking. One of my favorite shows of the year for sure. Here's beck covering Billy Jean at The State Theatre on 8/1.
