Without a doubt, police in this and Maine town deserve thanks and appreciation for not only keeping residents safe but also in the know. Especially for this reminder.

But at the same time, should they really need to remind us of this, because it should be second nature. You'd think, anyway.

Brunswick, Maine, Police Warning

It doesn't matter how safe of a town or city you live in, anything bad can happen at the drop of a dime. Sometimes, non-residents can cross into your town's border and break into a home, business, etc.

Other times, it's in fact your fellow residents and possibly even your neighbors that can become desperate -- especially in today's economy -- and feel forced to break into those same homes and businesses mentioned above in order to get what they need to survive or items to sell off to survive.

Author's Note: For the record, regardless of the economy or not, in no way, shape, or form is it okay to break into and/or steal someone else's property just because times are tough. That paragraph above was simply noting that sometimes, desperate times call for desperate measures. But again, that's not being condoned here.

Recently, the Brunswick Police Department warned residents that in the downtown and Cook's Corner areas of town, there had been multiple motor vehicle burglaries and in every single reported case, vehicle doors were left unlocked, providing the most easy access to anyone trying to gain entry.

Amazing of Brunswick PD to keep the public informed, but also, who doesn't lock their vehicles after they finish driving -- regardless of neighborhood safety -- especially if they have something valuable inside?
