We are missing live shows sooooo much these days. Yes, we are loving all the virtual shows like the State Theatre is putting on, but we miss being shoulder to shoulder with all of you. CYY Summercamps have been a mainstay for us and we were gonna have a doozy for our 25th anniversary this year. No worries, we will get to that as soon as we can...maybe an epic Holiday Bizarre if all goes well with the social distancing thing.

In lieu of having big shows, you may have noticed we've been raiding the CYY Live Archives recently. If you can't get to a show, we're trying like hell to bring live music to you on the radio and the CYY app. And when it comes to live CYY performances there is nothing like the Barenaked Ladies show off the WCYY Patio on June 6, 1997. The city of Portland literally shut down for the afternoon as BNL played to thousands at our home here on Monument Square. it really was CYY's "coming out" party and solidified the station as a force to be reckoned with. We were early fans on BNL. And they played almost every possible venue for us over the years...including a listener's apartment!

The epic moment from that BNL show in 1997, was the Million Dollar Rap. Probably our most requested song in our 25-year history.

The only crowd bigger than this show was probably the first Patriots Super Bowl rally here on Monument Square back in 2002.

We can't wait to have you all back to our place someday!. Let's do this again.

Of course, the other huge CYY show was in the summer of 2012 on the Eastern Prom with Mumford and Sons. Maybe the coolest night of live music ever in Portland!
