Sum 41 Bringing Farewell Tour to Portland, Maine, This May
If you haven't been paying attention to the world of pop punk recently, there's been quite the revival. Bands like Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Blink-182 and Sum 41 have found their footing again and are delivering chart-topping hits like they did nearly two decades ago. And one of those bands is also in the process of finishing off the weirdest breakup in music history.
That would be Sum 41. who announced last May that they would be breaking up after 27 years as a band. But before they officially go their separate ways, the band planned to release one final album and embark on one final tour.
One of those tour dates will be in Portland, Maine, on Wednesday, May 1 at the Cross Insurance Arena. The Interrupters will serve as direct support for the Portland show.
The breakup seems even more strange as Sum 41 is nearing their first #1 hit single on the alternative charts in almost 20 years with their newest song "Landmines". But so far, Sum 41 seems to be sticking to what their guns that this tour will be a true farewell.
The band will be releasing their final album Heaven :x: Hell on March 29. It will be a double album with one side in true pop punk fashion. The other side will be a Sum 41-style metal album to pay homage to some of the music that inspired the band over the years.
