When Residents in Casco Got Frustrated With Drivers, a Unique Road Sign Had to Go Up
It's a sign of the times, so to speak, when a road sign needs to be put up to deal with what drivers have been doing in Casco.
This sign at the corner of Varney Hill Road and Route 302 in Casco and it had to be put up because directions from GPS would lead everyone down this road to get to Crooked River Campground.
You can kind of see why this might be the case in the Google map above, but it seems even more evident on the satellite image below that Varney Hill Road probably was a former entrance to the campground.
So if you're even in Casco on your way to Crooked River Campground and start to turn and reach Varney Hill Road, you've gone to far. Turn around and go down State Park Road. You'll find the real entrance on your right.
