While many major retailers in America have taken a hit in recent years, Dick's Sporting Goods has simply gotten more aggressive.

The company isn't sitting around waiting for malls to collapse or for Amazon to control every facet of the marketplace. Instead, Dick's has been trying to make their footprint larger.

That will include a pair of moves in Maine. It won't mean new stores in Vacationland but it will be a different experience for shoppers in Augusta and South Portland when the new Dick's Sporting Goods locations are ready.

Dick's Sporting Goods Moving to New Location in Augusta, Maine

Dick's is moving from their current location on Stephen King Drive near Kohl's to join Augusta Crossing alongside Target, Best Buy and Lowe's.

Construction is currently underway and the expectation is the new Dick's Sporting Goods store will have a grand opening this fall.

This new Dick's in Augusta, Maine, is likely to feature some in-store changes Dick's has been rolling out. That could include a Lids store inside Dick's. Lids is set to open more than 100 locations inside Dick's stores across the country.

Dick's to Open 'House of Sport' Experience in South Portland, Maine

As the Mall Plaza begins its shut down in South Portland, Maine, Dick's will begin its transition over to the Maine Mall.

Dick's purchased the entire property that belonged to Sears including the Sears Auto Center last year.

Dick's intends to open a 'House of Sport' experiential retail location that will feature batting cages, turf fields, a rock climbing wall and more.

It will be a substantial construction project with no current timetable for completion.
