Lewiston Man Handing Out 6,500 King-Sized Candy Bars to Bring Smiles to His Hometown
Peter Geiger is back for Halloween, and he's on a mission this year.
If you don't know Peter Geiger, he is a man of many faces. You may only know him as the editor of the Farmers' Almanac. As he likes to point out, it's the orange and green one.
But for many of you, he's the guy that goes nuts for Halloween, handing out king-sized candy bars.
This is the display he had last year. This year, he has gone even bigger with 6,500 candy bars! No, not just candy bars, KING-SIZED candy bars!
And if you know the password, you can walk away with three!
What's this about a password?
Peter is very protective of his password. It's usually a phrase you must say in order to get your THREE king-sized candy bars. Showing up for trick or treat is enough to get you one, but if you want three, well, ya gotta have that password.
When will I learn what the password is?
Peter will release the password Halloween morning, and we'll be sure to get it to you.
Peter is such a great guy. He loves, loves, loves Lewiston, and is more excited about Halloween this year than any other. Why? Because he feels a duty and honor to bring the city a little happiness.
He told me,
...unless there is a lockdown, I am going to provide some smiles, laughs, and sugar highs. I didn’t want the shooter to continue to kill our joy and normalcy. I think this year is more important than ever. I actually bought an additional 250 candy bars this morning – up to 6,500 now.
We are all hurting in Lewiston. The clerk at the candy store told me she lost her uncle.
Where is this fantastic Halloween candy extravaganza?
It's at Geiger (duh) at 70 Mt. Hope Avenue in Lewiston. It starts around 5 pm and ends...well, it ends when either the line gets through or the candy runs out. Happy Halloween from Peter, the one person in all of Maine who does NOT eat candy (gave it up for Lent decades ago).
