Jack White is almost single-handedly saving music for those who care about music. Those who love music. Those who pay for their music. Those who believe in the magic you get from music. Watch how he's done it...

Since the mid 90's, Jack White has created/played music with; The Go, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. He's also put out great solo stuff in recent times as we know. (Look out for his 2nd solo record, Lazaretto, in early June).

Jack's pushed the buttons and worked the controls too! Over the years he's produced dozens and dozens of recordings including his own projects as well as The Von Bondies, country legend Loretta Lynn and rock n' roll legend Wanda Jackson to name a few.

Back in 2001, White founded the Third Man Records imprint to release music. In the later 2000's, Third Man moved from a label only concept in Detroit to a physical standing location/headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee that would do so much more.

Most musicians who "start a label", make their imprint for their own work and that's it. Simply to put more of an ownership stamp on their music. Its all about them. That's fine too, but that's not the case with White and Third Man. This is a label homebase for Jack's music sure, but it's so much more. He is working with others, preserving older music and inventing ways to hear new music. The owner is hands on, daily. Pushing boundaries, taking chances and delivering the best music possible... in all types of kooky formats!

Over the years, Third Man Records has become one of the most interesting, ground breaking and music industry resuscitating outfits anywhere. The label was swinging steady throughout the later 2000's with a 7" vinyl single series (that's still on going). White would release a single (with b-side) with various artists from all corners of the entertainment world; Tom Jones, Conan O'Brien, Wanda Jackson, Gibby Haynes (of the Butthole Surfers), Pujol, the late/great Carl Sagan, Seasick Steve, Beck and even the Insane Clown Posse. On plenty of them he even performs; guitar, vocals, drums. Whatever it takes.

At the location in Nashville, Third Man houses an office for the label business, live venue for special small shows, a photo studio, storage vault for master tapes, the label's storage facility and a storefront where you can buy all Third Man Records releases. It really is like Willy Wonak's Music Factory. I'm sure at times you see Jack hobble around with a cane and a funky hat too!

One of the coolest things he's done with TMR is their mobile unit to bring the goodness to your town. It's like a bookmobile, but awesomer. It houses inventory as well as inputs for guitars to be plugged into from the outside so Third Man travelling artists can perform outside for the public.

Watch about it here!

Watch Jack put the rolling store to good use here!

Needless to say White was a great pick last year as the official Record Store Day ambassador. It was then that he introduced, or re-introduced the world to a 1947 "Voice-O-Graph". Basically, a phone booth looking recording unit that can record two minutes of audio and create a small 6" single vinyl piece you can walk away with. You can even mail it to yourself in a Third man Records vinyl jacket, right there from the store! This I'm told is one of two left in the country.

Neil Young's latest record, "A Letter Home", was recorded entirely in this booth. This booth is a nice kick in the ass to make people say, "oh cool" about music again. There's not enough of that these days cause we're too busy clicking. (thanks btw for clicking on this story though!)

Take a look at White and Young talking about the booth this week on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon!

Here is Brendan Benson, Jack's bandmate from the Raconteurs showing just how damn easy and fun it is to make a super fast record in the Third Man Booth!

It's mind blowing to see all that Jack has done for music over the years with his bands and Third Man Records. It's even crazier to imagine what else is possible and what that clever mind has in store for us in the future. Hey, not many other people who have the means or brainpower are shaking it up. The way music is today, most others are just trying to stay afloat and simply get their music heard. That's understandable. But here's an artist who has earned and deserves the right to do things like this. Things he dreams about. Things that will be good for music. The bonus, we all benefit from it.

When he's not rocking out on tour supporting the new record, what will he think of next! I'll be sure to ask him that if I see him when I save up for a golden ticket to trip to his music chocolate factory in Nashville to visit this golden palace! I'm hoping to do that this year! Wish me luck. We will all benefit from it.

If you missed some of the other insanely cool things Third Man Records has done, check out these clips. I promise you will be blown away!

First up, take a tour of Third Man Records in Nashville! So cool!

When Jack's new album Lazaretto comes out in June, I will take a copy on Ultra LP please and thank you!

Heres what the gang did for Record Store Day back in 2012! Watch towards the end. The Liquid Record?!! Are you s - - - ing me? I'll own one of those someday. Oh, I will own one of those.

Not only is he Music President and The Willy Wonka of Rock n Roll; he's also becoming the Preservation King! Watch Jack keep em safe and sound here!

Oh and let's not forget he made a cool movie too with these guys!

The opening to that film, maybe one of the greatest music moments ever on film.
