New 18-Hole Mini-Golf Course Coming to Saco Will Highlight the Beauty of Maine
There are four words in the English language that can create one of the most wonderful phrases ever uttered by modern man: golf season is here.
Yer darn right it is. And while Maine's public and private courses are rushing to get starved golfers outside, another industry in the same market has already pressed the gas on 2023.
The Maine miniature golf season is underway. Courses around the state have been opening for the season, giving locals a chance to hit the mini links even before the tourists show up.
This year, the season brings us exciting news of a brand-new course in the works.
Martel's the popular mini golf course on Route 1 in Scarborough, and recently announced the news of the future course on social media. It will be the second track for the complex, which already sports a high-quality course and its famous homemade ice cream.
According to Martel's post, the future course will have a rich Maine theme. It mentions highlighting as much of Maine's natural beauty as possible. This is a tremendously original idea. Even though we have seen flashes of Maine themes in other courses, a fully featured "Maine" course is going to be quite the draw.
I can just imagine playing a hole that features a mini Mount Katahdin, or perhaps putting through Portland Head Light or over a replica of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. How about a hole where you need to avoid Moosehead Lake, or possibly island-hopping in Casco Bay? The possibilities are endless.
Honestly, I'm a little jealous that I didn't think of this idea. But I will offer my services if the fine folks over at Martel's need some hole planning help. I have a pretty good feeling they are just fine without me, but figured I should at least put it out there.
As Martel's point out, more details will be coming soon. Believe me when I say that I can't wait. I'm already dying for images. I'll even take a little concept art.
Meanwhile, Martel's is open for the season. You can get more details about hours and more on their website.
