In attempt to teach people a lesson, police are literally breaking into cars for the month of November to teach people a lesson. There has been a string of cars getting broken into in New Haven, CT so in order to help fix the problem, police are joining in. How do you get your stuff back? They'll either leave a note behind or call you, then make you come to the station to pick up your things. According to a story from the New Haven Register, a lieutenant stated they're aware it's controversial but “The bad guy is not going to break into the car and be able to take that item. It inconveniences the person to come down and pick up the property. Maybe next time they won’t leave their stuff in plain view.”
