There have been so many restaurant openings and closing throughout southern Maine in the last calendar year, it's enough to make your head spin. Some very notable local restaurants have permanently closed up shop and a handful of chain restaurants have done the same.

The ebb and flow of the restaurant industry dictates new restaurants will open and new chains will try to make it in Maine. While the Pine Tree State is home to many of the top fast food chains in America, there is one exploding across the country that has yet to find it's way to Vacationland.

It's Only a Matter of Time Before Raising Cane's Opens a Location in Maine

If you're unfamiliar with Raising Cane's, it's a Louisiana-based fast food restaurant that has become beloved for their chicken fingers and their signature Cane sauce. Raising Cane's also serves up unique sides like crinkle cut fries and Texas toast.

Raising Cane's popularity has skyrocketed in recent years, prompting the company to unleash an aggressive expansion plan. As of this writing, Maine is one of only 8 states in the country that doesn't have at least one Raising Cane's restaurant.

New Hampshire Just Saw its First Raising Cane's Open in March

Raising Cane's is hoping to open more than 100 new locations across the country in 2025. One of those locations just had a grand opening in Manchester, New Hampshire.

It seems like only a matter of time before a Raising Cane's location will open, likely somewhere in southern Maine between Portland and Sanford. If that's a success, the sky is the limit. Texas has more than 200 Raising Cane's locations alone.
