The sports bar competition around Portland just got a little stiffer as the newest location of the Tilted Kilt franchise opens in South Portland on Monday. Eater Maine broke the news last October and since then, people have been hotly anticipating the Hooters-esque sports bar.

Tilted Kilt takes over the real estate formerly held by Newick's Lobster House at 200 Gorham Rd. in South Portland. That area is already home to a very popular location of Olive Garden as well as a new location for the popular Portland burger spot b.Good.

Tilted Kilt will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows. Tilted Kilt employs "kilt girls" that wear mini-kilts and plaid bras as a standard dress code. The company's trademark line is that "a cold beer never looked so good". The Portland Press Herald outlines some of the complaints the franchise is already facing from "concerned" citizens in the area including one who called the restaurant "pornographic".

The new South Portland location has been promoting the grand opening through Facebook, including their post from Sunday showcasing the staff and management.

Thank you for the great support South Portland from all of us at your Maine Tilted Kilt! We can't wait to officially open our doors tomorrow!
