You’ll Be Shocked by What Google Search Has Skyrocketed in Maine
Summer is a very busy time in Maine. We have so much going on throughout the late spring, summer, and early fall. Festivals, fairs, lots of concerts, fireworks displays, beaches to check out, and more.
Of course, one of the best ways to stay on top of everything going on in Maine (other than our radio station app, of course) is to do a quick Google search of upcoming events in your area.
Because of this, you would think that looking at Google Trends (which shows the top searches in a given area) would show you people were searching for details about visiting our beaches, the hours for Funtown, or the free summer concert series at Mill Park in Augusta.
Nope!
According to Google Trends, the top searches here in Maine over the last week and a half were about a video game!
Yes, apparently, despite the fact that we have so many fun outdoor activities to do here in Maine throughout the summer months, a lot of the state's residents are super excited about the launch of the new Diablo video game.
For those who are unfamiliar, the Diablo series is a fantasy video game produced by Blizzard (the same company that made the Warcraft games and the StarCraft games). The first game was released for Windows computers in 1997. The latest game is the 4th in the series.
It is available for several of the XBox and Playstation consoles.
Check out the trailer for it:
As a video game player (when I actually have time), I have to admit that this game looks really good. But, I am still a little surprised by this search being at the top of the stack. What do you think?
