Meet Winnie, a Sweet Three-Legged ‘Snuggle Bug’ Dog Looking for His Maine Forever Home

Every good dog needs a home, and that's no different for this sweet three-legged pup named Winnie.

According to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, this 3-year-old "snuggle bug" is looking for his forever home.

The humane society noted that he is currently in a foster home with dogs and cats, so if you've already got a canine at your house, he'd love to join the party and play. And it seems like having one less leg hasn't hindered him either as he can easily do stairs and loves to "wrestle and tussle" with his dog buddies.

Winnie is crate trained already, according to the humane society, and will easily sleep in it.

And did someone say food? This smart pup is very "food motivated," and he loves a good bone and kong.

One important factor the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society does state is that if you do have a child or dogs already, they request a meet-and-greet with Winnie and them before he heads home with you.

How can you not love that cute doggy face?

And look, if you're on the fence about adopting any dog for that matter, there's actual science to back up why having one is good for you.

According to the American Kennel Club, a dog will provide unconditional love that will make you feel less alone, will reduce your stress and anxiety, will get you up and about, and will just make you happier.

The website even cites a study in Japan that "found that staring into your dog’s eyes can raise your level of oxytocin, also known as the 'love hormone.'"

Imagine staring into Winnie's adorable eyes every day. Sounds like it could be a perfect match, right?

Note: As of noon Friday, March 22, Winnie was still listed on the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society adoption page but with a "Pending Adoption" attached. That means that while Winnie has a meeting with a potential adopter, in the event the visit doesn't end in adoption, you can still submit an adoption application and a staff member will get back to you about it.
