I geek out over lists and countdowns. There appears to be a few things missing from this report that could make it not 100% legit. For example, The Beatles aren't on Spotify. For the most part though, it seems to me that it's one of those lists that you don't have to like, but it's tough to call "total BS."

How did they come up with the list?

To simplify the process, a website called Polygraph (must be accurate, right?) used Billboard and Spotify data to produce a list of the "most timeless songs" since 1950. They took every song from the Billboard Hot 100 and cross referenced them to the amount of plays they have on Spotify. Also known as something I would do for fun if I didn't have a job. Check out the top 10.

1.  "Lose Yourself", Eminem  (2002)

2.  "Mr. Brightside", The Killers  (2005)

3.  "Numb", Linkin Park  (2003)

4.  "Don't Stop Believin'", Journey  (1981)

5.  "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Nirvana  (1991)

6.  "In the End", Linkin Park  (2001)

7.  "Hey Ya", Outkast  (2003)

8.  "Billie Jean", Michael Jackson  (1983)
