Meet Sunflower Farm’s Brand New Goat Kids in Cumberland
Cumberland's Sunflower Farm welcomed the first kids of the season this weekend!
Their live cam feed is accessible 24/7 and aimed directly at the goats' stall and outdoor area for our viewing pleasure.
The kids were named with inspiration from friends of Sunflower Farm. And now for an in-depth introduction to the kids, based loosely on zero facts:
Copernicus is an easy-going chap who just wants everyone to know he's down for anything. He enjoys kayaking, picnics, and thinks oral hygiene is highly underrated.
Claire is homeschooled, which she thinks gives her a unique perspective on life. She spends her days reading french novels and mapping out her backpacking trip across Europe.
B. is as sweet and simple as his name. He might not be the one you go to for financial planning or tax help, but he's a strong and caring friend who always has a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.
Madeline, or "The Original M-A-D" for short, is a true gangsta. You've got to fight to get on her good side, but once you're there, she'll protect you for life. Having been born in Maine, she inexplicably has a gravelly Australian accent and when asked for a quote to add to her bio, replied, "YOU WOT MATE?!"
Iva Belle is shy but curious. She delights in studying native plants and is alarmingly talented at writing couplets. Her number one bucket list item is taking a ride in a hot air balloon in Paris.
Louise is always putting others before herself. She works part time in an animal rescue league, and spend the rest of her working hours volunteering at local shelters and community events. At the end of a day of helping people, Louise adores watching HGTV's Fixer Upper and sketching out her ideal home. She secretly dreams of leaving it all behind and fleeing to an island in the Pacific.
LORI LEE DAKOTA
If you're not careful, Lori Lee Dakota will eff you up. Her temper is that of an angry bull and she's got fighting skills to back it up. Aside from her anger management issues, Lori Lee Dakota is a gentle soul; she has a passion for water color and poetry. She uses cleaning as an outlet when she feels a tantrum coming on.
Campbell is fascinated by human anatomy and by the second grade had finished the equivalent of three pre-med classes' reading assignments. He also loves astronomy, marine biology, and engineering. In his spare time, he enjoys experimenting with chili recipes.
Needless to say, Ophelia is the "it" girl. If she's not surfing the latest fashion trends on instagram, she's adjusting the window shades to allow just the right amount of light for a perfect selfie. Ophelia's got brains and heart too; as the inventor of liquid eyeliner, she lives off the royalties and volunteers at nursing homes helping elderly women apply makeup for their weekly outings.
Unbound by social norms, Hamlet identifies as a piglet. When he was bullied in school for his headstrong ways and remarkably high self-esteem, he turned around and counseled his bullies, and together they went on to found America's first Farm Friends Alliance group, welcoming young, open-minded animals of any species. Beyond his strong sense of identity, Hamlet can speak three languages fluently, and is currently studying Mandarin. He draws inspiration from his mom, who he says gave him his sassy sense of humor.
Yorick is foreign. A language barrier made the interview challenging, but we did gather that he loves the feeling of jumping on the ground after having just jumped on a trampoline. The ground feels very solid and your legs feel like jelly, and Yorick likes that.
Arthur was the youngest of 14, and as such spent his days unsupervised in the garden. You'd think this would result in a great green thumb, but Arthur can't keep a plant alive worth crap. He still enjoys tinkering, though, and dreams of someday owning a flower shop.
CLARA aka BOUNCERELLA JUMPYPANTS
Clara is a stand up comedian with a passion for chocolate and fitness. She is currently training for American Ninja Warrior and is a self-proclaimed grammar Nazi.
Adeline always has the hookup. She knows someone in every place you go, is always up on the latest restaurant opening downtown, and is somehow always free for last-minute plans. A typical yes-man, she avoids making plans ahead of time and loves to fly by the seat of her pants. On any given day you can find her chatting up the manager of the club, getting a cocktail named after her at the new bar, or in the frozen foods aisle at Hannaford's. She loves ice cream, what can she say?
