The South Berwick Fire Department said it was called to a fire that sent a black column of smoke into the air on Knight’s Pond Road around noon on Saturday.
Maine Governor Janet Mills signed a law in May requiring the operator of a vehicle weighing under 10,000 pounds to take "reasonable measures to prevent snow or ice on the vehicle from falling off the vehicle while it is being operated on a public way."
The snow is still expected to have a total snow of 12-18 inches in southern New Hampshire and southern Maine before tapering off late in the afternoon.

Sanford Police said witnesses told them the man was standing in the intersection of Main Street (Route 109) and Lebanon Street (Route 202) around 3:50 p.m., holding a knife and yelling at passing vehicles.
The two messages were sent Wednesday and Thursday on Channel 16, a channel for international hailing and distress messages only. Both sound like they were made by a young boy.
