Gates are great in Portland. We have so much iron protecting our yards from dogs during our neighborhood walks. We also have numerous dudes and dudettes per year jumping these gates to impress their dates.

With all the Clashin' Bashin' going on last week, thought I should wait til now to put up the location of last week's #PortlandQuest.

This one is tough.  Iconic and, yet, nouveau in it's way, this week's location is somewhere in Resurgam City (you remember what Resurgam means...oh, alright, scroll to the end of this***).

Any time you want some art in Portland, just put on your art shoes and hoof it to your nearest studio/gallery and see (buy) just what the locals are making--it's superb!

I almost did, too...this double-headed marker is for the Presumpscot River Trail that runs from the western edge of Portland into Falmouth and down to right near Mackworth Island.

The home-grown sense one gets from the Portland Art Scene (Marka Registrata/CV), gets more homey and growney this Sunday August 10 when the Society for East End Arts throws a party nine years in the making.

Summer is in full cruise-mode, and there's still plenty of time to see Portland--from one end to the other.

This week, I posted a couple pictures of structures at a spot in Portland--and nobody knew the location.  But, one person knew it looked like the underside of Tukey's Bridge...well, sort of.

Vulching through Portland this time of year is a lot of fun.  You see license plates from all over Maine and the rest of the hemisphere--and maybe New Zealand. Airlifting extra.

Time to get up and get out--this week, I've decided to make this Portland Quest thing a lot more difficult. Take a look at these pictures and tell me where in Portland this spot is.

Tuesday, I put up a couple photos of Portland--specifically the waterfront, and a bit of signage from somewhere, asking if you could identify where I was standing when I took the pictures.  It didn't take long at all to get the correct answer.

When William Shakespeare wrote his plays, as the rumor goes, they were all intended to be enjoyed outdoors. And, they are all way better when the action heats up... just as the sun is setting behind the trees.

I have a great job: excellent parking, superb coffee and the freedom to get out into Portland and get my hands dirty--looking for the nitty gritty of the city.  So far, quite the ride. Thanks for hitching along.

You obviously spend a lot of time tooling around the finer places in Portland, and you know where all the fancy stuff is--like this unique piece of equipment.

The Portland Museum of Art attracts so much genius, you'd think all the world's best artists grew up here...well, the man who's solo exhibit is currently hanging at PMA does own a house on Mt. Desert Island.  Does that count?

And, importantly, what it is?  Once as numerous as IHOP's, and bus stations, now you can count them on one hand around here. Leave it to Portland to revitalize a hit!
